Our first concert in the new St Mary’s took place on a very warm Saturday in May. Wythall Community Choir, Shirley Community Gospel Choir, soloists from Woodrush and the Coppice Choir all performed to raise money for Christian Aid and Acorns. It was a wonderful evening with some outstanding talent in the Woodrush Youth and Coppice Choir. Wythall Community Choir gave us a selection of music from Les Miserables and some traditional folk songs, which just suited the warm spring evening, while Shirley Gospel choir performed a selection of well known gospel songs including You’ve got a friend. Over 200 people came to the evening and we had lots of very positive comments. We will be sending around £700 to each charity so a successful and enjoyable evening, many thanks to all those people who made it possible.
