This is the fourth year we have run Holiday at Home, a day of entertainment and friendship for the older people of our community .For the first time we were able to welcome everyone to our own new church and had plenty of room to set up tables for lunch which allowed us to manoeuvre wheelchairs freely and looked very welcoming with all the decorations on a countryside theme.
I think what people really enjoyed most was the chance to meet other people, especially over a beautifully cooked hot lunch, chicken pie and chocolate and pear pudding went down a treat.
We started the day with some simple exercises to wake us all up ready for a talk on Earlswood Lakes, and a thought for the day on resilience. A quiz on the countryside gave everyone a time to chat followed by a chance to make a lavender bag.
The choir in the afternoon was newly put together with singers from Wythall Community Choir, The Primrose Hospice choir and St Mary’s, although they had only had one rehearsal they sounded good!
Thank you to all those volunteers who made this very enjoyable day possible.
